Allison Zengilowski
I am an educational psychologist interested in learning about how people think about their own learning. In my research, I draw from perspectives on cognition and metacognition, motivation and emotions, and identity and lived experiences. I am passionate about teaching and intentionally intertwine my research and educational practices.
Currently, I am a Teaching Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences at Lehigh University. As part of my responsibilities, I am creating a new, interdisciplinary undergraduate learning sciences minor program. I also serve as the senior ECR co-chair for the Motivation in Education SIG and program co-chair for Division C, 2b: Learning and Motivation in Sociocultural Contexts as part of the American Educational Research Association.
Formerly, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department at Colgate University. Before that, I was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Davis contributing to a multi-institutional project developing 6th grade math curriculum with focuses on executive function development, criticality, inclusivity, and relevance for historically disenfranchised students.
Outside of my professional pursuits, I was classically trained in ballet and continue to enjoy dancing. You can also find me playing piano, knitting, and baking (ask me about my maple and cream pie recipe).
